Yay! We crossed 100 posts on the blog! Here’s to 1,000 more!

Yesterday, I posted #100; it was so exciting to cross that threshold. I mean, I’ve been eyeballing those numbers for a few months.

In celebration, I thought it would be fun to make a compilation post of my 10 favorite posts so far on the blog.

Feel free to comment below, and tell me what your favorite is! I love to know what y’all think about the blog!

I’m also not including the post below (linked in the image), but I’m craving this delicious dessert, so… I’m going to make y’all suffer along with me. Carrying on…

1: 6 Amazing Perennial Food Plants You’ll Rarely Have to Tend!

  • This was a fun one for the lazy homesteader! These plants require far less work (if any), and you will still have quite the harvest. What’s not to love, here?

2:  My Affordable $1.25 Idea for Stopping Squash Vine Borers and Saving Seedlings

  • Guys, I’m so happy with how this experiment turned out. I have yet to draft the rest of the squash vine borer series, but we DID win, and this WAS the first step in successfully keeping them away!

3:  DIY Homemade, Non-Toxic, Aluminum-Free Deodorant That WORKS!

  • This recipe has changed my life for the better. It works so well, it keeps me smelling good, it’s non-toxic, and it’s nearly bulletproof in summer; you may have to reapply once if you sweat like crazy, but it’s so much better than antiperspirants or those commercial deodorants!

4:   Blueberry Plants Dying, Failing to Thrive in Clay Soil? This May Be Why…

  • I feel like this one is a very important read for anyone who has a struggling bush or tree with native clay soil. Few people realize what occurs when they plant new bushes or trees in clay holes; therefore, it’s one of my favorites because I feel like it was an “AH HA!” moment for me when I realized what was happening.

5:   6 Sustainable Chicken Feed Sources Homesteads Already Have

  • Because, feeding chickens can get quite expensive. If you have free feed available to you on your homestead, why not utilize it? I loved the brainstorming I had to do within this article, further expanding upon my knowledge and land utilization.

6:   Growing Lavender from Seed: We Figured It Out!

  • This one is important to me because it was a huge hurdle to cross as a gardener. Lavender seems to be nearly impossible to grow from seed; but I managed to do it with tons of success. If you’ve failed… I promise you’ll succeed if you follow in my footsteps!

7:   10 Crucial Crops The Self Sufficient Homesteader NEEDS to Grow, Harvest, and Preserve

  • This one was a lot of fun to write! I know it can be hard to select which crops to grow in the garden; but for those who are focused on attaining self sufficiency or who are interested in prepping for disaster, this is the post to check out. After all, homesteaders are all preppers to some degree.

8:   How to Garden WITHOUT Spending Money!

  • Shoutout to all of my wonderful, frugal or budgeting fellow homesteaders who don’t want to/can’t spend the money to start a garden. I am a frugal person by nature, and I’m always trying to save a dime where ever I can! It feels great to throw up posts like this one, in hopes that it’ll help a new or struggling homesteader to achieve their dreams.

9:   Growing Sakata’s Sweet Melon: Our Experience, Was It Worth It?

  • I love this melon so, so much! I cannot speak enough good words about it! Unfortunately, I can’t enjoy them while on the Keto diet, but I simply must spread the word. Therefore, it’s on this list, too. Here’s a secret: soon, I’m going to give some of my seed stash away; stay tuned! I’ll only have so many seeds to give out! 🙂

10:   Soaking Feed: The Life-Altering, Frugal Change ALL Homesteaders Need to Make ASAP!

  • Soaking chicken feed is a GAME CHANGER. This isn’t fermentation, no; it’s far simpler, I promise. Our experience is overwhelmingly positive, and I’m sure yours would be, too. This is one of the most helpful things I can teach you, so this one wraps up our list!

Thank you all so much for supporting our homestead, and our blog! If I may ask just one small favor:

If you’ve enjoyed any of the posts listed, please share them with your friends and family or link to them on your own blog! I’m always trying to help out, and I love receiving post suggestions, comments, and questions from you all.
